North Melbourne expect to announce coach before end of November

North Melbourne expect to be in a position to announce a new senior coach to replace Rhyce Shaw within a fortnight as they begin to narrow in on a list of candidates which includes experienced Brisbane Lions football manager David Noble.

The club embarked on a search for a new senior coach after a tumultuous end to the season when Shaw and the club came to a mutual decision to part ways in late October after the coach took an extended break for personal reasons.

The selection panel made up of CEO Ben Amarfio, football manager Brady Rawlings, premiership coach Paul Roos, board members Glenn Archer and Sonja Hood and leadership expert Terry Coyne has spent the past few weeks developing their selection criteria, sounding out potential candidates and accepting applications with the aim of reaching a decision before the end of November.

When the new coach is appointed they will play a role in appointing a couple of new assistants to the coaching group after the club removed Jade Rawlings, Jarred Moore, Heath Scotland, Jason Lappin, Michael Firrito and Will Minson at the end of the season having already stood down Brendan Whitecross and Jared Rivers because of COVID-19 budget cuts.
