One of the more exciting gallopers to cross the border into the NSW Riverina is set to make it three straight wins at Monday’s feature Wagga meeting.
Sharlie, a five-year-old US-bred mare, has quickly gone to another level since joining the Donna Scott yard at Albury.
In fact, she could be on the brink of a feature country target, or even a trip to the city, if she takes the next step in a competitive BM58 over the mile. Certainly a whirlwind last six months has only increased her appetite for success.
Sharlie was originally with Craig Widdison in the Victorian sister city of Wodonga before that trainer was rubbed out for two years on a bicarb charge. The mare went to Nick Ryan in Melbourne, and last month charged home to win her maiden easily in heavy ground at Albury.
