Man opts not to appear in court following woman’s death

A man has chosen not to appear before a magistrate after being charged with assault offences following the death of a woman in a Geelong suburb.

Timothy James O’Shannessy was arrested and charged over the death of Michelle Norris, who was critically injured when ambulance paramedics arrived at a home in The Walk in the Geelong suburb of Thomson on Sunday night.

Ms Norris, 39, died at the scene.

Mr O’Shannessy, 42, is charged with intentionally causing injury, recklessly causing injury, unlawful assault and other charges but has not been charged with murder or manslaughter over Ms Norris’ death.
