Thanks for tuning in.
A couple of very enjoyable matches kicked off Super Rugby’s new era. The broadcast on Nine and Stan Sport went off without a hitch, too.
See you all this time next week for round two.
There were a few bonus minutes as the Force pushed for a second try but a collapsed maul cut their quest for more points short.
The Brumbies finish with a well deserved, 27-11 win.
The only sore point tonight for ACT will be the lack of a bonus point.
That will leave the Reds on top of the Super Rugby AU ladder after round one.
It’s taken 76 minutes but the Force are in for their first try of the night.
Tomas Cubelli made the most of some quick ball, dummied, stepped and dived over from close range.
A consolation try for the home side. They’ll lose their ninth straight Super Rugby AU match tonight.
77′ | Brumbies 27 Force 11
Isaak Fines-Leleiwasa is generally a replacement halfback. Not tonight.
He’s playing right wing and finished a great set piece from ACT.
Ryan Lonergan threw a perfect pass to put Tom Banks on the outside of his man, the fullback drew the final defender and hit Fines-Leleiwasa in stride.
That’s the final nail in the Force’s coffin. They’ve put in an admirable effort but just don’t have enough class in attack.
74′ | Brumbies 27 Force 6
The clock is not on the Force’s side.
There are just 10 minutes left at HBF Park and the home side are still try-less.
ACT are also back to 15 men. Harry Lloyd has replaced James Slipper.
The Force will need a minor miracle from here.
70′ | Brumbies 20 Force 6
The star Wallabies prop started the maul defence before the Force lineout jumper hit the turf.
He was penalised and immediately sent to the sin bin. Once again, the Force are pressing. But after 60 minutes, they’re yet to kand a serious blow.
61′ | Brumbies 20 Force 6
They’re still yet to score but the Force feel close to five points.
They have a lineout deep inside the Brumbies’ 22 after a great touch finder from Jake McIntyre.
They need a try now if they’re to feature in the final 20 minutes.
59′ – Brumbies 20 Force 6
You don’t see that very often.
Force halfback Ian Prior and five-eighth Jono Lance have been pulled after 50 minutes.
Tomas Cubelli and Jake McIntyre have replaced the pair.
52′ – Brumbies 20 Force 6
If you’re after a quick recap of the first 40 minutes, look no further.
What a ball by Len Ikitau.
The centre danced across field, managed to get his hands free and offloaded to Irae Simone, who scored ACT’s second try of the night.
That’s not the start the Force needed in the second stanza.
