Corrections officers are working to control a riot at a prison in Sydney’s west with inmates photographed on the facility’s roof.
Pictures taken from a helicopter show smoke and flames billowing from Parklea Correctional Centre’s roof.
MTC-Broadspectrum, the prison’s private operator, said 14 inmates jumped onto the roof of an accommodation wing about 2pm on Monday.
“Parklea’s immediate response team officers and the security operation group are managing the situation to safely bring the inmates down from the roof,” a spokeswoman said.
