Two men have faced court charged with the alleged murder of a father of five gunned down in a drive-by shooting at a Melbourne pool hall.
Sekomain Vave and Nikola Latuhoi, both 26, were arrested by homicide squad police before appearing at Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday, where they were both remanded in custody to reappear on November 17.
Both men, from Cairnlea and Hoppers Crossing respectively, are facing charges of murder and intentionally causing serious injury.
Their arrests followed a five-month investigation into the fatal shooting of Ikenasio Tuivasa, 33, outside the All Star Lounge at Ravenhall on February 27.
Mr Tuivasa, who was known to his friends and family as Sio, had five children aged under 11.
A 24-year-old Endeavour Hills man was also shot and seriously injured during the incident.
During the pair’s brief appearances, the court heard police needed to translate text messages from Mr Latuhoi’s mobile phone that were written in Tongan.
Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner Bob Hill said the force was committed to holding people to account for involvement in the indiscriminate use of illicit firearms.
