A pair of promising Canberra gallopers with only 13 starts between them are set for a smash-and-grab raid at the feature meeting at Albury on Tuesday.
Heading the assault is exciting Star Witness three-year-old Kelvedon Road from the Todd Smart stable.
Third-up in his first real preparation, Kelvedon Road could easily have won both runs back with a touch more luck, especially at Forbes 16 days ago when he charged home late as a heavily backed favourite from an awkward inside draw.
Back on the much bigger circuit, he looks set to break through in a maiden over 1175m and is likely to start the shortest-priced runner on the program.
Improving filly Strawberry Swing can keep him honest.
Later in the program, four-year-old mare Boho Chick from the Luke Pepper yard is primed to peak fifth up this preparation in a competitive benchmark 58 handicap over 1500m.
Four weeks after motoring home in a similar race at Narrandera, Boho Chick will carry 2.5kg less for new rider Winona Costin.
In a tricky affair, local mare Opoho Dreaming continues to improve and can also peak here.
