Jamaea out to start and finish a big week for Price in Silver Shadow

Kembla Grange trainer Luke Price can cap a perfect week in the Silver Shadow Stakes at Randwick on Saturday when Jamaea returns to racing seven days after an eventful exhibition gallop on her home track.

There was nothing wrong with what the Headwater filly did, but for Price the stress levels went up when he took a phone call from his wife Elizabeth just before Jamaea went out onto Kembla Grange.

″⁣She rang me and said I needed to go to the hospital because the baby was coming,″⁣ Price said.

″⁣I was still at the races and told Tommy [Berry] when I got the saddle, ‘Don’t stuff the gallop up because I might not be here when you come back.

″⁣Fortunately, I got to see the gallop before heading home, and Elizabeth had Patrick on Sunday.

″⁣Patrick is the third child for the Prices. His arrival made for a busy week given Price rode Jamaea, which won the Percy Sykes Stakes during The Championships, in a final quick-up on Thursday.

″⁣She worked great. It has been a great week and it would be fantastic if she wins another group 2 on Saturday,″⁣ Price said. ″⁣She meets the benchmark fillies from last season in Four Moves Ahead and She’s All Class, but we think she is up to them.″⁣

Berry was pleased with the work at Kembla last Saturday and delighted when he saw the draw of gate three on Wednesday.

″⁣She needs that soft draw to run her best races,″⁣ Berry said. ″⁣She is so relaxed. We can put into a good spot and put her to sleep and let her use her acceleration.
