Just how good 2021 has been for Richard and Michael Freedman is summed by the number of No.1s they will saddle at Kembla Grange on Saturday.
In set weights and penalties races, Stay Inside, Forbidden Love and Tiger Of Malay will lump the biggest penalty of the race and the No.1 saddlecloths.
“They were our three very best performers last season and I think they are on their way back to some good races in the next six and eight weeks,” Michael Freedman said.
“Two of them are group 1 winners [Stay Inside and Forbidden Love] and Tiger Of Malay was a group 2 winner and group 1placed, so they have been there and done it before.
“It is just a case of doing it again, and I think they all get that chance on Saturday, albeit from awkward draws.”
The Freedman brothers partnership has quickly established a reputation for buying the right horses and getting the results with them.
The biggest feather in the cap, which would be more like an Indian chief’s headdress, is the Golden Slipper success of Stay Inside. However, after he failed in the San Domenico Stakes where he only beat one home, there are plenty willing to risk Stay Inside in the high-quality Run To The Rose
“With Stay Inside, we just want to see how we go on Saturday then we’ll work out which path we will take from there; it will either be the Golden Rose or The Everest,” Freedman said.
“It was hard not to be disappointed with him first-up. He was there with Paulele at the top of the straight and lost a couple of lengths to him.
